Master Esthetics

Bonnie Joseph Academy of Cosmetology and Barbering is also offering the Master Esthetics Curriculum which consists of 1200 hours (600 hours from Basic Esthetics + 600 hours). The Utah Master Esthetics Curriculum focuses on advanced esthetics, teaching students about the aging process and its damage to the skin, along with spa treatments, pedicures, advanced waxing and 200 hours of Manual Lymphatic, where students will get training in manual lymphatic massage of the full body.

Here are the hours allocated for each course in the Master Esthetics Curriculum and a summary of the things students will learn and master.

Pre-Clinical 60 hrs.

Chemical Peels 50 hrs.

  • Chemistry for master esthetics
  • Advanced chemical exfoliation
  • Pre-exfoliation consultation
  • Post-exfoliation treatments

Advanced Waxing 30 hrs

  • Temporary removal of superfluous hair by waxing & advanced waxing

Pedicures 20 hrs

  • Advanced pedicures

Spa Treatments 300 hrs

  • Advanced aromatherapy

The Aging Process and Its Damage to the Skin 50 hrs

Advanced Esthetics 50 hrs

  • Advanced mechanical and electrical devices
  • Sanding and microdermabrasion techniques
  • Galvanic or high frequency current for treatment of the skin
  • Devices equipped with a brush to cleanse the skin
  • Devices that apply a mixture of steam and ozone to the skin
  • Devices that spray water and other liquids on the skin
  • Any other mechanical devices, esthetic preparations or procedures approved by the division in collaboration with the board for the care and treatment of the skin

Manual Lymphatic 200 hrs

  • 40 hours of training in anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system; 70 applications of one hour each in manual lymphatic massage of the full body; and 90 hours of training in lymphatic massage by other means, including but not limited to energy, mechanical devices, suction assisted massage with or without rollers, compression therapy with equipment or garment therapy that will equal the 200 required hours for schools teaching lymphatic massage

Elective topics 20 hrs
